Who Pooped in the Park? is a series of picture books that teaches children about animal tracks and scats in different National Park settings. Each book is set in a different park, and features some different animals, but the basic storyline is the same.
This book tells the story of a boy named Michael. He is horribly afraid of bears. When his family goes to Yellowstone National Park on vacation, Mom and Dad teach Michael and his sister about the wildlife in the park without ever getting close enough to the animals to get scared. There are also editions available for a number of other National Parks (see the list below), with more coming out soon.
In their "close encounters of the poopy kind," the family learns about a variety of animals, and many other denizens of the park, and readers will become familiar with their footprints (tracks) and the droppings they leave behind (scats).
